Dancin’ at the waffle house

Dancin’ at the Waffle House, Michael Jackson, and one week to live.

“Did you hear about that doctor that looked at Michael Jackson’s blood work and gave him six months to live?” I asked my husband, Henry as we were sitting at the waffle House in Baton Rouge Louisiana.

“No,” Henry replied, “I didn’t but it makes you think about what is important doesn’t it?”

So Henry, I asked…What would you do if you knew you had only one week to live?

Ohhhh, I’d spend all my time with you, said Henry, with a wink and a twinkle in his eye…

OK- now my turn.” I would dance to every song that I felt like dancing to.
And I would follow the next lady that peed on the toilet seat and make her clean it up.”

Just then, I spied the jukebox in the corner and thought…

Why wait? I am going to play some music and when a good song comes on, I am going to get up and dance to it.

Oh nooooooo- don’t do that…this is waffle House, not a dance place.

Sure enough, Marvin Gaye, “Gotta Give it up” came on and I got up and started dancing. The waitresses LOVED it and some came out and danced with me too. The whole place was whopping and hollerin before the song was over. Fun Fun Fun!

Why not start doing some of those things we have been wanting to do right now? Why wait?
What would you love to do if you were living like there was no tomorrow?
What would you love to do if you did not have to worry what people would think of you?

A couple of months ago, I took one of my two-year old grand-daughters on a walk through our Chinatown. Isabel does a very unique song and dance routine-kind of squatting and marching-reminds me of an African dance class I took a few years ago. So she started doin’ her routine on the busy sidewalk “for no particular reason” and an elderly Chinese lady came out of one of the stores and joined her. No words exchanged-just this beautiful non-verbal communication. A few people applauded and it sure brightened MY day. I think little kids and the elderly have so much to teach us.

Oh… this is great. Too often we forget to have fun, and instead behave in the interest of propriety.

Let it out, and you’ll inspire others to do it too!

Dance, even if you don’t know how to. Dance! Enjoy the human experience you’re having.

    Dance!

Go Rebecca, Go. I am an older lady who has been complaining about I love to dance and have done very little of it for many years. First it was my husband did not want to. Then I got into a church where you could only dance for Jesus. I am single again, out of the church and I want to get down like you. I have been forcing myself to go to dances by myself. A lady told me the other day go ask them to dance don’t wait for them to ask you. That is the next step.

Rebecca, You really brightened my day! I’ve been feeling really down this weekend and I’d been doing all I could to turn it around but not having much success….
I just finished saying the prosperity prayer, and then read this,
and WOW… I feel great!! It really is all about perspective isn’t it!

You’ve giving me all kinds of ideas with your dancing story…

Isn’t it freeing when we don’t need to worry about what people think of us any more!

GOOD FOR YOU FOR LETTIN’ LOOSE IN THE WAFFLE HOUSE,
I BET EVERYONE THERE WAS UPLIFTED FROM IT!!!

    AMEN! Rebecca! You Rock! LITERALLY!

From dancing in the parking lot to dancing in the waffle house!

Imagine if we all took the time to dance when the music touched us and that little moment to clean up our own dribbles!

Its those little things that shift the vibration of the planet.

Cheers to being your own vibrator!
    Love, Teri!

One of the things I love about coming through my 40s and into my 50s is that I’ve developed the confidence about being who I am without worrying so much about what people think about it…

So you dance, Rebecca! I’m up there dancing with ya!

That was a great story, Rebecca! And I’d like to get the lady who peed on the seat too. It drives me crazy when I see that! I mean, you have to turn around to flush the toilet, how can you not see that you are leaving a mess on the seat? So thoughtless.

My Friend died on Monday last week and the theme for her funeral was “Celebrate life” So in honour of my friend I went out and brought a hula hoop so that I could become a child, and get some exercise. I wanted to buy this hula goop since last year.

I’d grab the family and go “festival hopping” all round the country …. sleeping on beaches or in luxury hotels as I felt like it….. and of course just dance when the mood takes me!
