Making “Love” at the Waffle House!

My 7 year old granddaughter, Bella Loves to eat with Nana at the Waffle House Restaurant & it tickles me pink to take her.

On our most recent visit… I listened in silence as she excitedly pointed out half a dozen items she wanted from the menu. I winked at the waitress…”Don’t worry, princess; Nana will make sure you get everything you want.”

After the food arrived and Bella was busy gobbling her southern cooked breakfast, I turned my attention inward.

As she chewed I silently began reflecting on the book I had been reading.

Have you read that classic “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman? According to Chapman , there are five main ways we express love:

• Words of Affirmation- You feel best when you are uplifting to others verbally

• Gifts- You express love and find pleasure in giving gifts (small or large)

• Acts of Service- You love doing service for others and the community

• Quality Time- You feel love best by spending quality time with other

• Physical Touch- You feel wonderful touching and being touched

So, I’m sitting there at the Waffle House thinking…

“How could I share my best Love language with each and every person in here

…wouldn’t that be fun!?” (My best love language is Words of Affirmation followed closely by physical touch)

Don’t worry…I’m not cray-cray…I know I’m not going to go up to every person at Waffle House and tell them how wonderful they are. But, it was too good an idea to just waste!

My spirit doesn’t embrace physical limitations. I could give love (even all 5 types) from my little booth filled with the smell of warm pancakes and syrup…even surrounded by strangers, unaware of my intentions.

I closed my eyes and began to imagine that my spirit was going to each person there and whispering something uplifting in there ear.

There were SOOO many people…

Oh heck, I thought, this is gonna take forever and Bella can’t be entertained by her grits and waffle much longer.

So, I decided to multiply my spirit by the number of folks there and get ‘er done!

(well why not? Angels can bi-locate.)

So, I imagined my now-multiple spirit quickly uplifting each and every person there including, of course the staff.

I imagined my spirit multiplied and giving not only Words of Affirmation, but Acts of service, Sweet loving hugs, Gifts(like maybe their heart’s desire) and Quality Time to each and every person there.

Yes, like yours, my spirit is Divine & is fluent in all five languages. So grateful that I don’t have to conjure up these love languages on my own. I can tap into “Source” to let it flow.

The energy in the place shifted perceptibly. Lordy, maybe it was because I felt myself move into this place of Divine ecstasy. Now, did my little Waffle House Love Language experiment enhance someone’s day?

I may never know… However, I do know that I personally felt like a million dollars and had the best day I’ve had in a long time. Whatsoever you want for yourself…give first unto others.

The entire experiment took only about five minutes and three of those were in “thinking it up”.

I challenge you to try this for yourself. It’s fun, easy and will make you feel like the richest, most loved, loving person ever!

Five Love Languages…Let me break it down:

* More on the ” Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman (a must read if you really want to understand how to give and receive more love)

According to Chapman, about 25% of us speak one language but wish to receive another language.

(IE- my first language is Words of Affirmation but I’m like a little kid in my excitement in receiving gifts, my second language is touch and I adore both giving and receiving touch equally)

For about 75% of us, the language we speak is the language we desire to receive.

We love others in the manner we would like to be loved.

To understand others better, pay attention to how they express love. You may think someone is not being loving to you simply because they are expressing it in a language you do not speak.
