Help! Birds laugh at My Windsocks!

Birds, lots of birds build nests in my carport. I wouldn’t mind but they crap all over my cars!

They especially LOVE to poop on the handmade bench my sweet little son made for me.

Someone told me to hang windsocks under the carport and it would scare the birds away.

Well, the birds just LOVE my windsocks. I see them having teaparties and laughing their little beaks off!

I ahve plenty of nice tall trees for the little birdies to nest in- they seem to prefer my carport.

So, does anyone know of a KIND way to encourage them to nest elsewhere? I just want to be able to sit under my carport without gettin’ pooped on. seriously, it is thick under there!

I will appreciate any advice you can leave me.

    Hi Rebecca
I suggest you go to a website that will teach you how to build a
    nesting box for Owls
just Googled “how to build a birds nest” and check a few sites …
just get a wooden house built for Owls & hang it
somewhere that it is VISIBLE fiom the carport.
Like you say…”if you build it they will come.”

its natural and the other birds will move away, especially if the Owl House is VISIBLE from the carport !!
(How high to hang it and what types of trees they prefer should be included in the directions as well as the measurements of the house)
    I hope this helps
    Good Luck

I got mine @ some Birds magazine online , I just Googled “how to build a birds nest” and checked a few sites …
just get a wooden house built for Owls specifications&measurement, hang it @ the appropriate height,
somewhere in your yard. Preferably where the it is VISIBLE from the carport.

Just read that hanging unsolicited or damaged CDs works in fruit trees. You might try it.

    Hi Rebecca,

You can try those brighly colored plastic spinning spinners!

Hi Rebecca, you might try one of those plastic owls. They are predators and are supposed to scare the other birds away. It is at least an inexpensive way to try to help without hurting the birds.

Good idea about the bird feeder. A cat might not do well with my five big “outside” doggies.

Actually, the birds LOVE eating the dogs food up and wait for them to go away before gathering for the feast.
    Thanks for your input!

It may be too late this year, and they may already have eggs. But as soon as the chickies are gone, tear down the nests. And whenever the mommas try to build new ones, keep taking them down. We had to do this once under our carport and it worked.

    Rebecca, you are too, funny.LOL
We have some aggressive birds up here who dive bomb my cats.
Your Texan birds might not be as aggressive as my New York ones. Try a cat!
Otherwise, how about a bird feeder on the other side of your yard?
